There are two suspension Saint-Symphorien bridges separated by the l'île Aucard (Aucard Island) in the Loire River.
The original three-span Saint-Symphorien bridge crossing the southern channel of the Loire.
This appears to be the original two-span Saint-Symphorien bridge crossing the northern channel of the Loire.
A temporary replacement of the three-span bridge, likely built in the 1940s after the bridge was destroyed multiple times during WWII.
The next photo was taken during WWII and is not dated. It's not clear if this scene occurred before or after the prior image. Jochem writes: "It looks like this bridge had concrete towers. Possibly the older bridge was already replaced prior to WW2, with a new one having concrete towers, which was then destroyed during WW2, replaced after WW2 with the timber tower bridge, before concrete towers were back in 1963 [see below]. I would suggest the photo shows the 1940 destruction by the French, and then the Germans built a timber tower bridge back as replacement, which was destroyed in 1944, and rebuilt shortly after the war in timber, before it was properly rebuilt in 1963 with concrete again."
The new bridge crossing the southern channel completed in 1963.
